privacy policy. ramus collects nothing about you.
effective 10 october 2026
ramus is a free, open-source music player for plex. it has no accounts of its own, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no crash reporting, and its developer runs no servers. nothing you do in ramus is sent to its developer.
what ramus talks to
only what it needs to play your music:
- plex.tv, when you sign in with your plex account and when ramus looks up your servers and players. requests carry the standard plex client details: the app's name, the platform and device type, and a random identifier ramus creates the first time it runs. plex's side is covered by the plex privacy policy.
- your plex media server, to browse, stream and download your own music and to report playback progress. your server uses those reports to count plays, and may pass them on to services you've linked to your plex account.
- lrclib (lrclib.net), to look up lyrics when your plex server has none for a track. ramus sends the track's title, artist, album and duration, and nothing that identifies you.
- other plex players, only when you cast to one. ramus sends the player playback commands and a temporary access token from your plex account so it can stream from your server; your long-lived sign-in token never leaves your device.
links to the source code and licences open in your browser only when you tap them.
what stays on your device
- your plex sign-in token, stored encrypted (in the keychain on iPhone).
- a copy of your library's details and artwork, your settings, your play queue, and any music you download or ramus caches for smooth playback, all in the app's own storage.
signing out deletes the sign-in token and the play queue. uninstalling ramus deletes everything else it stored.
this website
ramusplayer.app has no cookies, analytics or trackers. it's hosted on github pages, which keeps standard server logs under github's privacy statement.
children
ramus isn't aimed at children, and it collects no information from anyone.
